As you probably know, the Westerville City Schools has instituted a program for children grades 3 through 12 to complete a minimum of 3 hours of community service each year.

The HRAA has many opportunities for our neighborhood children to get involved with community service and complete this credit at school too! One such event it coming up this Sunday (Veteran's Day) from 12:30pm to 3pm. The HRAA is holding our annual clothing drive and this year we also are planning to plant bulbs in the flowerbeds in the park and at the entrances.

These bulbs were a personal gift to the association by Stewart Flaherty, Blendon Township Trustee to help to beautify our neighborhood. We need help to get them into the ground and it's supposed to be a perfect day for planting this Sunday! Consider coming out with your kids to help make your neighborhood more lovely come spring-time.

I will have with me enough copies of the form needed at Westerville City Schools for your children to take back and get their proper credit for their volunteerism. Additionally....the HRAA is recognizing our neighborhood kids for their community service as well. We had many kids help out with the Halloween party so we're going to show our appreciation to them for demonstrating community involvement!

For everyone who'd like to help, bring a shovel, hand spade and gloves if you need them. Please email or post here if you have questions.
