westerville resident discounts through blendon township

Posted in: Huber Ridge Area

I wanted to know if there was a way blendon township could agree with westerville to let us have some resident discounts to use the pools and recreational programs? I know we do not pay direct taxes to westerville but it would be a huge bonus if we could somehow gain discounts.  Im struggling coming to terms with the enormous rates certain places like the highlands pool in westerville want for non-residents.  My son loves to swim and we wanted to find somewhere with reasonable rates.  Thanks

You may want to check with the pool at Minerva Park. They have inserted flyers in our newsletter in the past to encourage residents to join their pool.

It will never happen. For over 50 years Westerville does not recognize Blendon as a part of their system. The fire departmet took 20 years to get a relationship. Does it make sense to be a part? Yes! If that happens, you WILL start paying taxes to Westerville. Personally, I would rather not! Where can we build our own pool?

Dear Giachetti,

The Jaycee pool is the most reasonable.  Our girls took swim lessons there when they were young; they have an excellent program.  Minerva Park and Highlands rates are way higher than the Jaycee pool.
