How can we go about getting that group home out of this neighborhood?? These "troubled" boys are obviously not well supervised and have posed a threat to our neighborhood. Apparently the cops or EMS are there numerous times as reported by neighbors. I'm wondering why this problem hasn't been addressed before. Now a woman is dead. I'm afraid to let my daughter ride her bike in this neighborhood now. I'm afraid for my son who walks to his bus stop in the morning. How many more people will be attacked before the owners of this group home wake up??

I completely agree. I wasn't even aware that this group home existed until I heard about it on the news. Is our township getting some sort of kick back from the County to have this group home there? I am completely appaulled they are allowed to stay there. Clearly these troubled teens are not being monitored properly. My kids go to Ridgewood park all the time and now they will not be allowed to go.

Also please note when I was googled this incident, another situation came up that occured at the park earlier in the month. Three teen boys were robbed for their cell phones while waiting for a ride at the park. I realize that the boys were there past the Park hours, but that too is quite scary. The report stated not only were the boys robbed of their cell phones but one boy was beaten because his cell phone had a password while another had to remove his clothing. His clothing was then stolen by the suspects.

I realize the police can't monitor the park 24/7, but something needs done to beef up security there. We installed a fancy gazebo in the past year. Maybe instead of funding a gazebo, the money for that should have went to security cameras instead. Maybe the townspeople would be willing to pass a levy for increased security at our beloved park. Or maybe people would just be willing to donate a few dollars every now and then. Just a thought. The safety of our children and ourselves is of the upmost concern.

I was not aware that this site was available and find this to be a good idea.In regards to the group home on Copenhagen. This is not the only group home in the neighborhood there is also one located on Santiago which is a few streets from me. The police are there on a regular basis. I walk daily with a neighbor and two weeks ago the police was at the house and two kids were on the lawn hand cuffed. They have knocked on my neighbors door asking for money, rides, and smokes. I do find it rather interesting how the group homes come about without the residents of the neighborhood  having a clue they are here. My neighbor and I are in the process to see what steps or actions could be taken to remove the group homes from the neighborhood, if anything. However once this type of situation is allowed it will continue unless the community steps up. I do not begrudge  a person a better opportunity at life. However, I find it rather interesting that the parents, grandparents cannot cope with the child and the court finds the child to be un rulely, so our child services decides  that by putting the child in a neighborhood with one person to supervisor three children, obviously with no restrictions, was some how a good idea. I find this to be further poor decision making from our child services department and the court system. I live by the woods so I get to see a lot of what comes in out of the woods on a daily basis. It is not a place for our kids to be hanging out. I highly recommend that you do not allow your kids to hang out on the path and creek.

Seriously, this is outrageous.

We have enough junky homes in this neighborhood affecting our property values. The last thing we need is a bunch of DANGEROUS group homes. Frankly, I would not have purchased a home in this neighborhood had I done better research concerning rental properties and CERTAINLY regarding group homes.

I want them out, and I want to know what we can do about it. Give me a petition, tell me who to call, whatever. I hope this is addressed at the next community meeting.
