I would like some information on who or what committee decided to choose Rumpkee as our trash company. What kind of kickback is our community getting? From my standpoint, it's only means two things. The first being more I have to pay out. The second being less service. Not only did our rates increase significantly, but on more than one occassion, they have opted not to pick up our yard waste. Over the Memorial Day holiday, I worked very hard on my yard. I properly bagged up my yard waste in those paper yard waste bags. After trimming bushes, trees, and gathering up the needles from the pine in my back yard, I set out close to 20 bags of yard waste. I also set out two trash cans that I usually use for regular trash. Several times this week it has rained. Some of the bags are starting to break apart. It wasn't easy hauling all of that waste to my curb from underneath my back awning. I seriously doubt when they come this week to get my yard waste, if a bad does break, that they will clean it up. When I contacted Rumpkee, customer service stated they opted not to pick up because they didn't anticipate on so much trash to gather. They are a trash removal service, isn't that something that they should be prepared for. To me this is similar to an OB-GYN getting word that 5 of his/her patients are having a baby all on the same day, and opting to only be there for 2 of the deliveries since they didn't anticipate on this. I am so disgusted with them.

This company is hurting Blendon Township. They are not as bad as AQUA (formerly OAWC) clearly, but for what I understand Rumpkee was a choice that Blendon Twp made. I want to know why? MORE COST FOR LESS SERVICE!

Please also note when I called Rumpkee, they said they were getting a memo out to the town leaders. I just read it on this site. My question after readint that memo is why should we be patient. We are paying for their service, not the other way around! And once again, what kick back is this community getting? It seems unfair for our townspeople to choose for us a higher rate to pay, without knowing what we are getting from it?

The trash service is decided on by our trustees. It is somewhat of a complicated method. This question was asked at the HRAA meeting. From what I understand a bid goes out, then when contracts come in, a community pool looks at the contracts and votes on who will get the contract. Not sure how valid this is but I believe I read (on facebook so take it for what it is) Rumpke was the only one to bid the last go round.

Did you know there are two locations that would take your yard waste without waiting for Rumpke to get them off from your curb? Rumpke sends instructions to explain what needs to be done. They mail to me from time to time. Again, two locations are available for you if you desire to drop off at no cost, one is behind Speedway, off Emrick Rd. And the second one a few miles away, pass 161 bridge, on your right, Mulch, I think. Knowing when rain comes, you could take an alternative way to get rid of the yard waste. I have a number when they miss the trash, they would come back to get them. Believe or not, I have witnessed too many breakdown dump trucks in front of my house. I am thankful to reside in Blendon Township than in the city of Columbus, their service was awful, no pick up for two to three weeks.
