Nominating Committee Seeks Candidates

The HRAA Nominating Committee has been reaching out to members since October to ask if they are interested in stepping up to help lead our association in 2019.  Specifically the candidates we are seeking are those to step into the elected positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer.  Their work is almost done as they will be delivering an initial slate of candidates to the HRAA membership at the December 3rd meeting.

The Nominiating Committee was given a list of members who are considered "in good standing" with the association meaning their dues is paid up to date.  Some members may not have been contacted as they are currently serving in elected or standing committee coordination positions or members who have served in the past and indicated they were not interested in serving again.

So we are looking for members willing to lead our association into the future.  Leaders who are willing to lend their time, talent and creativity to build on the existing activities, events and programs established as the foundation for the successful neighborhood association that is the Huber Ridge Area Association, Inc.  

The time commitment to participate as one of our administrative leaders isn't what you might imagine.  Although we have just six face to face meetings a year for our membership, the leadership team meets just once or twice face to face and in between communicates using a Facebook page.  Here are the duties of each elected position:

President - leads general membership and executive meetings of the HRAA, Inc., oversees functions performed by officers as well as all standing committees of the HRAA, Inc. helping out where needed.  Assures that the bylaws of the Huber Ridge Area Association, Inc are followed.

Vice President - steps in to lead general membership and executive meetings of the HRAA, Inc in the absence of the President, coordinates all aspects of spring and fall community garage sales and engages meeting speakers.  Assists with standing committees of the HRAA, Inc. as needed.

Secretary - Solicit agenda items from executive committee, create and print meeting agendas, document notes from meetings and create and print minutes for general membership meetings and executive committee meetings of the HRAA, Inc.  A template is used to generate meeting agendas and minutes.  (In 2018 we held 6 HRAA General meetings and just one Executive meeting)

Treasurer - Handle all financial matters of the HRAA, Inc., making timely deposits of checks and cash, writing checks for expenses, reconciling bank statements and creating monthly reports of financial activity of the association.

Although the Nominating Committee is wrapping up their service to the HRAA for this task, the election for these officers will not be until the first meeting of 2019.  So if you have been thinking about stepping up, there is still time to throw your hat into the ring,  If you have the desire to become more involved with the development and leadership of YOUR neighborhood association, this is a great opportunity to do so!  Please direct your email to to be included.
